“FROM BEHIND THE SCENES TO CENTER STAGE, Danny yates goes solo with No Fit state”

UK has a new modern rock act that has been grabbing attention. No Fit State is the solo project of Danny Yates. Blending bluesy grit with modern rock textures. Danny is highly influenced by all the classics like the Beatles and Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page. Diving into tones and sounds of modern rockers like Queens of the Stone Age and The Black Keys. This guy does it all from producing and engineering to performing. He is a multi-instrumentalist grasping all roles of the studio and stage.
Yates is not a newcomer to the music world. He had been producing records and working in studio a most of his life. At one point he worked in the famous Rockfield Studios, the same Rockfield studio that Black Sabbath, Queen and countless incredible artists laid down tracks. Before going solo, Danny Yates was guitarist for White Light Parade, a Bradford alternative rock band he formed with his brother Jono Yates on vocals and rhythm guitar. Bringing together bassist Tom Emmett and drummer Mark Lewalski for a solid rhythm section. The band eventually signed to London indie label Split Records. After that project ended, Danny carried his musical ambitions into the studio and began working on new music, taking on all the writing roles and working as a solo act.
In 2018, he released his first single under the No Fit State name. The track titled “On Your Own” — this song gained traction quickly and goes on to be one of his more popular releases in 2026. However, No Fit State started picking up steam around 2022, supporting The Cold Stares on their UK tour. Also a notable single “Before I Lose Control” released in 2023, got attention with Louder/Classic Rock flagging Yates and No Fit State as an artist to watch ahead of a debut full-length. This fueled his moment as he released more music and continued working in studio.
Behind the scenes, Yates’s reach extends well past his own catalog. As a songwriter and producer, he has placed music in sync licensing deals for Rockstar Games, Sky TV, Warner Bros, CBS, and ESPN, a credit list that places him in the working-producer tier of the UK rock scene rather than strictly the solo-artist lane. He’s also a studio owner, running City Sound Studios, working with artists on various projects. This guy lives and breathes music.
Yates has put No Fit State on the map with millions of streams worldwide, this is just the beginning with his music reaching new highs across streaming platforms, features on BBC radio and multiple mainline blues rock playlists on Apple Music and Spotify. Recently Danny Yates received an endorsement from Orange Amps and landed a slot at the UK’s Download Festival. Yates expressed his gratitude to be endorsed by Orange Amplifiers and his love for the music legends that have inspired him to play Orange Amps.
Early this year April 2026, No Fit State released a single “Need Your Love” channeling the indie rock sounds of the twenty tens. Reminiscent of The Black Keys. Moreover new show dates have been announced with an October 10th show supporting Apollo Junction at Brudenell Social Club. Yates continues to record and create with his City Sound Studios. Working with other artists and working on his own music.
