" Rumkicks is keeping punk rock alive and taking it everywhere"
(Artist Report)
Written by: Dominque Menefee
Rumkicks is a band of spiky-haired, silver-studded leather-clad punks from Seoul, South Korea. Since their formation in 2018, they’ve released three bodies of work. Their debut EP, Brutality, was released in 2020. Their first album, Born Rude, came next in 2023 and is followed by their most recent release, Hit A Nerve in 2025.
Rumkicks founding member and frontwoman Yeawon Jeong is a sight to see with her multi-colored liberty spikes extending in all directions. Though sometimes her style attracts unwanted attention. The Rumkicks track “Don’t Touch My Hair” was inspired by an incident during which someone touched Yeawon’s hair without her permission.
The members of Rumkicks speak about issues and experiences that they find important. Mental health is a subject that Yeawon is known to speak up about on stage. Being an all-female band, Rumkicks has had to take on the task of working harder to be accepted and taken seriously in the punk scene.
Rumkicks has brought their energetic style of punk across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Japan, China, and their home country of South Korea. They have performed several times at the Rebellion Festival, which exposed the band to wider audiences across Europe. Rumkicks continues to set fire to punk crowds everywhere.
