Mystic Knights, the high-energy rock outfit led by Chris Cester—best known as the founding member and driving force behind Australian rock icons Jet—continue their rapid rise with their most recent single,
Count, released in late January 2026.

The gritty, self-produced track was released independently and has quickly captured attention across the rock scene. Described as an infectious, energetic rock 'n' roll hit, "Count" blends flashes of mod, new wave punk, and early 2000s indie rock aesthetics. Built from a lone guitar riff and stripped-back rhythm during a period of personal reset for Cester, the song delivers urgency and instinct-driven raw power. It moves fast, stays tight, and marks a bold creative shift toward autonomy—highlighted by Cester owning the masters for the first time in his career.

As Cester shared in recent reflections on the project: “That's definitely a yearning of mine, to have enough time to fully express myself. I don't think I ever have yet, and I think every artist would say the same thing.” This sentiment underscores the independence driving Mystic Knights, allowing Cester to step fully into the spotlight as lead vocalist and primary creative force.

"Count" serves as the official lead single from the band's forthcoming EP, slated for release this spring. It follows their earlier momentum-builder "This High Up" (initially released in 2024 and spotlighted in our coverage last year), which earned major sync placements with ESPN and Fox Sports and topped the SubModern radio chart, proving Mystic Knights is far more than a side project.

Critics and playlists have embraced the new release. The Wild Is Calling spotlighted "Count" in their Best New Rock feature on February 2, 2026, calling it a testament to the band's vibrant performance and predicting big things ahead. An official music video for the track is now available on YouTube, further amplifying its reach.

Mystic Knights is comprising Cester alongside Aaron Eisenberg and Emmanuel Castro, formed in Los Angeles and self-released the single, emphasizing a no-formula, high-octane approach. With "Count" shaking up airwaves, blogs, and streaming platforms, the band is poised for an explosive 2026 as they gear up for their EP release.
