"Mother’s Cake Returns With a Bold New Album, We R All Gonna Die"
(Artist Update)
Written by: Ginny Gaines
Austrian rock band Mother’s Cake returned on October 9, 2026, with its new album, We R All Gonna Die, a ten-track release that marks another chapter in the group’s ever-changing musical journey. Known for mixing psychedelic rock, hard rock, funk, and progressive sounds, the band has built a reputation for doing things its own way. Released through Esis3-RECORDS, the new album follows 2024’s Ultrabliss and finds the group continuing to explore different directions while keeping rock music at the center of its identity.
Mother’s Cake formed in Austria in 2008 and gradually developed a following with its energetic approach to rock and willingness to experiment. Over the years, the band has released several albums, including Creation’s Finest, Love the Filth, No Rhyme No Reason, and Cyberfunk!. Its musical journey has taken it beyond Austria, earning opportunities to perform internationally and share stages with established artists such as Deftones, Iggy Pop, Alice in Chains, and Deep Purple. Rather than sticking to one particular style, Mother’s Cake has continued to explore different sounds while maintaining its own musical personality.
The band began introducing We R All Gonna Die to listeners months before its release. The title track arrived on May 8, 2026, followed by “Take It Easy” on September 11 and “All for Nothing” on October 2. Those three singles gave fans an early taste of the album before the complete ten-song collection arrived. With its striking title, the record immediately raises questions about life, time, and the bigger picture, although listeners will ultimately decide what the album means to them as they experience it for themselves.
The road to this release has also included changes within the band. Original drummer Jan Haußels announced his departure in March 2024 after roughly 14 years with the group, and Alex Kerbl subsequently joined as drummer. Raphael Neikes, who had previously worked with Mother’s Cake on tour, also became a permanent member in 2024. These developments came around the same period as the release of Ultrabliss, making the years leading up to the new album an important time of change for the Austrian rockers.
With We R All Gonna Die, Mother’s Cake continues a career built on musical exploration and a refusal to remain in one place for too long. The album gives longtime fans another release to add to the band’s growing catalog while offering new listeners an opportunity to discover a group that has spent nearly two decades carving out its own path. In a music world where many artists settle into a familiar formula, Mother’s Cake continues to move forward, proving that there is still plenty of room for experimentation, individuality, and the unpredictable spirit of rock and roll.
