1544 put Kingsborough on the map, especially on the west coast (USA), bringing the band new opportunities like supporting roles for Joan Jett, Robert Cray, and ZZ Top. You can hear the influence that took place with the 2019 release of "Only Light," stripping production back and diving into natural guitar textures. Following this up with "So High," vocally nailing a Paul Rodgers-level of style, with a deep ZZ Top-style southern guitar breakdown. On February 21st, they packed in two more songs, "Open Invitation" and "Across the Headlights," releasing the "Take A Ride" EP.

While locked down, the band found solace in jamming together, and they ultimately decided to release some of these sessions. Like the band's cover of Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" from the summer of 2020, that inspired the recording of more classic covers. Maintaining the summer vibe, the band released a cover of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer." If you listen, you can hear the lineage of the 80s sound in Kingsborough's most recent release, "You Could Have It All," taking the band's sound in a different direction.

Nothing is set in stone for Kingsborough — it's simply two guys producing music. 1544 proves these guys can put together all the elements to create real, authentic songs. With recent shows and the vibes surrounding them, it's possible we get something new from them next year.
