Bass Drum Of Death is back at it again, recently releasing the bands sixth studio album, a raw unfiltered release that stays true to the bands roots. On September 12, 2025 they released “Six” under Cobraside Records.

The Mississippi trio, led by frontman John Barrett, decided to take things back to the sounds of their early days. Bringing back the edgy garage rock tones, recording in a stripped down setting, keeping things raw and real. This record is reminiscent of the debut of Bass Drum Of Death and really shows a deliberate pivot to simplicity, with Barrett handling demos solo before bringing in the full band for a visceral, no-frills polish.

“Six” opens with the instrumental intro, setting a brooding tone before exploding into the rhythm of "Phantom Drip," a nostalgic punk-surf hybrid. The lead single "Do Nothing" accompanied by a official video was released in late June. We had wrote a short report about the the single delivering on the high energy slash-and-burn style. The album also has other vibes with songs like "Zeroed Out", this one juggles dynamic highs and lows in a relentless rollercoaster. Other track highlights include the punchy "Never Gonna Drink About You," the knife-edge tension of "Like A Knife," and the groove-heavy "Pick 'Em Up And Put 'Em Down." This is a album you want to listen to cover to cover.

In a recent interview, Barrett discussed the album's evolution, emphasizing a desire to reconnect with the band's garage-rock roots amid subtle shifts in their collaborative process. Noise Magazine and Glide Magazine giving the album high praise and fans are excited about the direction of the band.
