A landmark box set is set to shine a spotlight on John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s influential New York years. "Power to the People," arriving October 10 via Universal Music Group, gathers 90 never-before-heard tracks across 12 discs—offering fans a rare glimpse into the couple’s creative evolution. The set features everything from stripped-down demos and candid home recordings to freewheeling jam sessions and riveting live performances, illuminating the artistry that defined Lennon, Ono, and the Plastic Ono Band.

Among the highlights is a newly mixed and reimagined edition of their 1972 album, "Sometime in New York City," alongside a bevy of live performances, including a compilation from the legendary 1972 One to One concerts at Madison Square Garden. The box set is credited to John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band, with contributions from their occasional collaborators Elephant’s Memory and Invisible Strings, and guest appearances by Frank Zappa and the Mothers, David Peel and the Lower East Side, and Phil Ochs. Sean Ono Lennon, the couple’s son, spearheaded the production of the collection.

Excerpts from these historic concerts were featured in the acclaimed documentary "One To One: John & Yoko," directed by Kevin Macdonald and Sam Rice-Edwards and executive produced by Sean Ono Lennon. After a successful theatrical run earlier this year, the film is now available for rental and download on major platforms, with streaming set to begin on HBO Max this fall.

Looking ahead, Mercury Studios is preparing to release remixed, restored, and re-edited concert films next year under the title "Power To The People." The project is directed by Simon Hilton, produced by Peter Worsley, and edited by Ben Wainwright-Pierce.

In a personal preface of the book included in the deluxe edition, Yoko Ono reflects on the era and the significance of the music: “The One To One concert was our effort in Grassroots Politics. It embodied what John and I strongly believed in—Rock for Peace and Enlightenment. And this one in Madison Square Garden turned out to be the last concert John and I did together. Imagine Peace. Peace is Power. Power To The People!”
