Rising from the vibrant indie music scene in Leeds, The Dassins are quickly making their mark with a compelling blend of melodic hooks, tight musicianship, and emotionally resonant songwriting. With two studio albums already released and standout tracks like "Chasing Shadows on the Wall", the trio—Ewan Turner (vocals, guitar), Edward French (drums), and Riley Gill (bass)—is establishing a distinctive voice in the UK’s modern rock landscape.

The Dassins take cues from some of music’s most iconic acts, including The Beatles, The Police, and The Jam. Their sound reflects a deep appreciation for the fundamentals of great songwriting, wrapped in a contemporary indie rock aesthetic. The result is music that feels both familiar and forward-thinking.

The band's formation grew naturally out of school friendships and shared creative drive. Turner’s early passion for the guitar led to the formation of an initial band, where he eventually crossed paths with French. When the original drummer stepped aside, French stepped in seamlessly, quickly elevating the group’s dynamic.

Around the same time, Turner and Gill connected through a shared sense of humor in class. That connection evolved into a strong musical partnership, rounding out a lineup built on chemistry, mutual respect, and an eagerness to create.

The band's name, “The Dassins,” is a made-up Germanic-sounding word loosely inspired by Borussia Dortmund, a football team admired by the drummer. The name reflects the band’s quirky individuality and hints at their refusal to follow convention.

Live performance is central to The Dassins’ identity. Onstage, their energy and cohesion are unmistakable. The interplay between the members creates a dynamic experience that goes beyond simply playing songs—it becomes a shared moment with the audience.

Each member brings their own energy to the performance, creating something larger than the sum of its parts. This connection has helped the band earn a reputation for memorable live shows across the local scene and beyond.
