Hello everyone, today we are talking about the project Fuzzhead, out of Minneapolis, MN. We Found this project with the Soundwave Artist Search. Fuzzhead is the solo project of musician Ben Nelson. He has officially released His self-titled debut EP, marking a bold entry into the indie music scene. With a sound that weaves together pop-punk energy, hard rock grit, indie sensibilities, bluesy undertones, and folk introspection, Fuzzhead’s music is as eclectic as it is captivating. The EP, entirely written, performed, recorded, and mixed by Nelson in his apartment, showcases his versatility, skills and dedication to his craft.

Ben Nelson, the creative force behind Fuzzhead, brings his years of musical experience to this project. His debut EP is a a window into his ability to blend distorted guitars, vibrant basslines, and heavy drums with atmospheric synths, eerie backup vocals, and a range of keyboards. The result is a sound that feels both raw and polished, familiar yet innovative. Tracks on the EP pulse with gritty vocals and intricate instrumentation, creating something great for listeners and the live experience.

The self-titled EP was produced using an array of tools that highlight Nelson’s hands-on approach. Recorded in Pro Tools with an LA-610, the project features a single microphone for all vocals and percussion, with guitars and bass tracked via DI out. The drums, crafted with Superior Drummer 3, were meticulously programmed note by note, with careful attention to velocity and dynamics. Keyboards and synths, performed via MIDI using Arturia V8, add a layer of texture that elevates the EP’s sonic landscape. If you didn’t get any of that, just understand, Nelson put in some work on this EP and pretty much willed it into existence, coming out sounding like a pro.

“Fuzzhead is a project born out of passion and persistence,” says Nelson. “This EP is just the beginning, and I’m thrilled to share it with the world. Every sound, every note, every mix decision—it’s all me, pouring everything I’ve got into this music.”
