Black Joe Lewis is back at it, again kicking off a new 2025 tour. The Austin-based blues, funk, and soul artist, has been active with his band, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears announceing a string of shows across the United States, with confirmed dates such as May 27 at Zoo Bar in Lincoln, NE, May 29 at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, WI, and June 1 at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI, with Ritual Suns as a supporting act.

The tour follows a strong performance at Overton Park Shell, where fans went nuts, creating quite the build up around this new tour. Lewis and his band also made an appearance at TRCOA (The Recording Conservatory of Austin), offering students a glimpse into their creative process, described as a "masterclass in raw musical energy." His latest album, Electric Slave (released via Vagrant Records), continues to fuel his road presence, blending influences from Howlin’ Wolf and James Brown.

Critics and fans alike celebrate Lewis as a vital force in modern blues. CBS News called him a “hard-grooving veteran” whose performances are a masterclass in funk and blues, while NPR has archived numerous features on the band, noting their influence in the genre. On X, fans describe Lewis as “the real deal,” with one post calling his recent Milwaukee show “a sweaty, soulful throwdown.” However, some longtime fans on platforms like Reddit argue that Electric Slave doesn’t quite match the visceral punch of the band’s 2009 debut, Tell ‘Em What Your Name Is!

With no new album announced, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears are focused on the road, bringing their high-octane performances to festivals and clubs alike. Their 2025-26 tour dates, available via platforms like Songkick and JamBase, promise more opportunities for fans to experience their electrifying live show. Lewis, who was still working construction as recently as 2021 to support his music career, embodies a blue-collar ethos that resonates deeply with his audience
