The Hives, Sweden’s wildest garage rock band, are back, and they’re louder, wilder, and more unapologetically themselves than ever. Their new album, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, was released on August 29, 2025, and it’s basically a 33-minute adrenaline rush. Think of it as a musical rollercoaster that is fast, chaotic, and ridiculously fun.

This album is pure garage rock mayhem. It’s got the raw energy The Hives are famous for, screaming guitars, pounding drums, and vocals that sound like they’re trying to start a riot. But there’s also a slickness to it, thanks to producers Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Mike D (yep, from the Beastie Boys). They helped shape the sound into something that feels both classic and fresh.

The band recorded it in Stockholm at two legendary studios—one owned by ABBA’s Benny Andersson, and the other used by modern artists like Yung Lean. So yeah, it’s a weird but wonderful mix of old-school rock and new-school attitude. This album has 13 songs on it that include "Enough Is Enough," "Hooray Hooray Hooray," "O.C.D.O.D.," "Legalize Living," "Roll Out The Red Carpet," "Born A Rebel," and "Path Of Most Resistance." Fans and critics alike think it rocks hard, and it’s one of their strongest releases in years.

Frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist said working with Mike D was both exciting and nerve-wracking. “Everyone was like, ‘This is going to be fun.’ But then, everybody got really nervous pretty quickly,” he joked. Even their longtime producer started tripping over cables. Classic Hives chaos. also launched a big world tour, starting in Australia in July and running through Asia, North America, and Europe, wrapping it all up back home in Stockholm in December. Big arena shows, like their Glasgow date at the OVO Hydro, showed they’re still one of the most exciting live acts around.

This album proves The Hives haven’t lost a step. After more than 25 years in the game, they’re still delivering high-energy rock ’n’ roll that feels as fun and chaotic as ever. With big names behind the production and a tour that’s been packing out arenas, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives is a reminder that the band’s place in modern rock is as strong as it’s ever been.
