Coming out of Baltimore, Maryland is Nova Koloso. A fast growing psych rock band with a heavy sound. Although they have been around for less than a decade, they have already released three albums and are building up a strong fan base.
Nova Koloso started back in the pandemic years, highly inspired by bands like Queens of The Stone Age and All Them Witches. Sometime around 2020 brothers Mark and Tom Colegrove started working on a recording project together, this would evolve into Nova Koloso and would become some of the band's first material. Releasing their debut self-titled album in 2021 and following it up with a second album in 2022 Hallucinate Your Faith.
The momentum continued to build in 2023 when they expanded the lineup bringing on Tim Yungwirth on guitar, Morgan Bell on bass, and Dustin Moraczewski on keys. This brought a new reality to the band's live performances with new layers of creativity. Nova Koloso began building their fan base by hitting the local scene and working on grassroots support, spreading the news about their albums and putting on incredible shows in the Baltimore area.
In 2025 they brought the energy of the band's live show to Spotify, releasing a live album "Live at the Watermelon Room." Showcasing the band's ability to put on a high level show and deliver a psychedelic experience. In this release Nova Koloso leaked the live version of the song "Source Code," only locals would know that this was a brand new song, giving the fans a glimpse into what comes next.
Nova Koloso hit the studio for the first time with the full band lineup to work on their third album. The band had started to get heavier over time with a driving rhythm section and darker grooves. Focusing hard on tight, guitar-driven riffs, while still keeping the heavy psych rock improvisation vibe. With every member of the band working on this new album, it added new depths of creativity and style to the music.
July 17, 2026 Nova Koloso released the band's third full-length album "Source Code" to all streaming platforms. The album is available on a CD as well as a limited double vinyl via Big Curve Music, giving the core fans something for their collection. The vinyl includes a bonus side of material featuring a cover of The Police's "Synchronicity I" which was recorded as part of the Source Code sessions.
Most recently the band released a killer music video for the song "Electric Emblem" and the Source Code album release party is planned for July 24, 2026 at Metro Baltimore. Nova Koloso has a string of dates ready to go. They continue to expand their horizons to new states and new fans around the world.
