“Fuzzy Textures and Progressive Edges: Why Kamggarn Keeps Rising in the Global Psych Scene”
(Artist Report)
Written by: Cody Denning
Kamggarn came together in the summer of 2016 in London, England. A group of friends bonded over their shared love for 70s prog rock and modern psychedelic sounds. They wasted no time and headed into 123 Studios in Peckham with producer Brett Shaw to cut their first EP, Pursuit of Sounds. That record quickly caught the ear of Dirty Melody Records, who put it out on vinyl in March 2017. The release show at London Fields Brewery sold out, and just like that, they were off.
From the jump, Kamggarn built a name for themselves with loud, hypnotic, and totally immersive live shows. They’ve shared stages with heavy hitters like Wand, The Mystery Lights, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and more, carving out a solid spot in the international psych scene.
Their sound is a swirling mix of fuzzy, heavy psych rock, dreamy textures, and strong progressive edges. They dropped their self-titled debut album in 2021 and have kept evolving ever since. As of 2025, they’re still dropping new music, including a fresh single called “Listen” in collaboration with another band.
On the road, Kamggarn keeps the momentum going, popping up on bills across Europe and beyond, always delivering that fuzzy, heady energy their fans crave. They’re one of those bands that just keeps getting better with every release and every show.
