Today we are reporting on a band out of Leeds, UK. In the gritty heart of West Yorkshire's music scene, the band Dinosaur Pile-Up has been putting out music for nearly two decades, blending grunge infused riffs with infectious hooks that echo the spirit of '90s icons. Formed in late 2007 by frontman Matt Bigland following the breakup of his previous band Mother Vulpine, Dinosaur Pile-Up has evolved from underground darlings to a resilient force in the rock world.

The band's name, whimsically drawn from a chaotic dinosaur stampede scene in the 2005 remake of “King Kong”, reflects their playful yet ferocious approach to music. Bigland, who handles vocals and guitar, remains the creative core, often recording albums as a one-man operation before assembling a live lineup. Current members include bassist Jim Cratchley (joined 2013) and drummer Mike Sheils (joined 2010), providing a stable backbone after earlier lineup shifts that saw departures like original bassist Tom Dornford-May and drummer Steve Wilson in 2010.

Dinosaur Pile-Up's discography spans five studio albums, starting with their 2010 debut “Growing Pains”, which peaked at No. 108 on the UK charts and introduced singles like "Mona Lisa" and "Traynor." They followed up with “Nature Nurture” in 2013, then “Eleven Eleven” in 2015, and “Celebrity Mansions” in 2019. The latter featuring breakout tracks such as"Back Foot", climbing charts all the way up to No. 5 on US Mainstream Rock and No. 18 on US Rock Airplay. Their sound draws heavily from alternative rock pioneers, incorporating drop C sharp tunings for a heavier edge while nodding to influences like Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, and even thrash metal acts like Slayer.

After a five-year hiatus marked by Bigland's serious health challenges and personal upheavals, the band roared back in 2025 with I've Felt Better, released on August 22 under Mascot Records. Described as a raw outpouring of pent-up emotion, the album kicks off with lead single "'Bout To Lose It" and includes fan favorites like "My Way", both accompanied by high-energy music videos. The record has quickly garnered praise, landing on year-end lists as a top alternative rock release of the year. Social media buzz highlights its impact, with fans voting tracks like "My Way" as standout songs of 2025 and praising the full discography.

Dinosaur Pile-Up shows no signs of slowing down. Recent fan posts reveal excitement over upcoming live shows, including a February performance in Orlando that's already generating attention among longtime supporters.
