"From Metal to Hyperpop: Why PALELUME Became a BBC Introducing Highlight"

North London alternative-rock band PALELUME are at the beginning of their story, but the three musicians behind the project are far from new to the alternative scene. Vocalist Jevon Langridge, guitarist Jacob Truman and drummer Joey Rattigan had already built experience individually within the alternative scene, working with acts including Love Is Noise, Lizzy Farrall and High Regard before coming together as PALELUME.
Speaking directly to Soundwave Music Media, Jevon described PALELUME as an alternative-rock group that “blends everything from Metal to Hyperpop into a cohesive sound,” topped off by “cathartic, heart-wrenching lyrics that are bound to take you on an emotional rollercoaster.”
That mix of influences can now be heard on their debut EP, the pain isn’t contagious if i’m alone, released on August 26. Jevon described the record as “the first chapter of our story,” showcasing a series of songs and stories centred around “loneliness, isolation and depression.” The five-track EP opens with “Solitary Eyes”, followed by “(If You) Felt The Same”, “Buried In The Afterglow”, “Holding Your Fragments” and “IDWK”.
Behind those songs are real experiences. Jevon told Soundwave Music Media that PALELUME’s songs are based on real events and stories. “Solitary Eyes” came from what he described as a “weird time” in his life, when he was going through a rocky patch that took longer than usual to overcome. As that period seemed to be coming to a close, the song captured the feeling of trying to see light at the end of the tunnel, only to feel that light getting dimmer and question whether there was a way out.
PALELUME’s sound has already caught the attention of BBC Introducing – Three Counties & Northants, where they were selected as a Featured Artist. Speaking about the band on air, the presenter called PALELUME “a highlight for 2026 for us,” adding: “We’ve been really fortunate to find a band like this because what an incredible sound they have started off with.”
Despite the experience of its individual members, PALELUME itself has only just started performing live. Jevon told Soundwave Music Media: “With only one live show under our belts supporting Trash Boat at their Slam Dunk Festival warm-up show, we plan to take the record to as many stages as possible.”
Those next stages already include Eagle Inn in Manchester on October 3 and Strongroom Bar in London on November 28. With their debut EP now released, more live shows ahead and BBC Introducing already calling them a highlight of 2026, PALELUME’s “first chapter” is only just beginning.
