When we saw the band live, the standout song was “Lies,” Jake’s Rickenbacker thundering through the open air. Ryann’s vocal power and range are reminiscent of Ann Wilson (rock legend from the band Heart). It was an energizing moment, showing a side to the band we had not been expecting. The band doesn’t just perform, they put on a show, linking songs with psychedelic grooves and jams, giving the audience a taste of rock music, blending the entire spectrum, from funk to country, soul to southern psychedelic desert rock. The band’s live shows are an experience.

On June 16, 2026, the band put out a new single, “Play It Cool,” hitting us with a mellow indie alternative feeling — the type of song you’d hear in a movie montage. The song pulls on the heart strings of romance lyrically, with some sweet Duane Allman guitar licks crying in the outro of the track. The production quality really shows how tight this band has become over the years.

Grits & Greens aren’t slowing down anytime soon. The band is currently out on The Hangin’ In There Tour, hitting stages across the country with dates. Beyond the road, the band has entered a new chapter in the studio, recording at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama — the birthplace of some of soul and rock’s most iconic records. That session produced “Answers,” the first single from an upcoming four-song EP, giving everyone even more to look forward to.
