"The Sheepdogs Return with a Record That Feels Like Home"

(Artist Update)

When The Sheepdogs released Keep Out of the Storm on February 27, 2026, it didn’t feel like just another album. It felt like a band digging in, shaking off the dust, and proving they still had plenty of fire left. This was their eighth studio album, and it arrived at a time when things were shifting behind the scenes. Their longtime drummer had stepped away in 2025, which could have slowed them down. Instead, the band leaned into the change. Different drummers came in to help record the album, giving each song a slightly different groove and personality. Rather than sounding unsettled, the record feels alive; like a band playing in the same room, feeding off each other’s energy.

The title Keep Out of the Storm says a lot about the mood of the record. The songs are about holding steady when life gets rough. They're about love, loyalty, late nights, and keeping your head up when things aren’t easy. Frontman Ewan Currie writes in a way that feels familiar and real. Nothing is overcomplicated. The lyrics are about everyday struggles and everyday joys. It's about relationships, freedom, music, and finding a little peace when the world feels chaotic. But don't get me wrong, this isn’t a slow or gloomy album. Far from it. Most of it sounds like it was made with the windows down and the volume cranked up.

If you’ve ever liked classic rock radio from the 1970s, this album will feel like home. The Sheepdogs are known for their twin guitar sound, warm harmonies, and steady, driving rhythms. That’s all here, thick guitar riffs, catchy choruses, and songs that feel built for live shows. “Nobody But You” kicks things off with bright guitars and a feel-good energy. The title track, “Keep Out of the Storm,” feels like the heart of the album, steady and reassuring, like a hand on your shoulder. “Playing All Night Long” and “Out All Night” lean into that loose, bar-band swagger the group does so well.

“Bad For Your Health” has a gritty, bluesy bite. It's the kind of song that makes you nod your head without realizing it. “Breezy” lives up to its name with a lighter, easygoing groove. There are 11 tracks in total, and they move smoothly from one to the next. Nothing feels overly polished. In fact, that’s part of the charm. The album was largely recorded live in the studio, so you can almost hear the room in the background.

Lineup changes can sometimes shake a band’s identity. In this case, it seems to have sharpened it. Bringing in different drummers added subtle variations in rhythm and feel, but the core sound remains unmistakably Sheepdogs. The guitars still shine. The harmonies still soar. The songs still feel like they belong blasting out of a vintage pickup truck on a summer night. Instead of sounding like a band trying to reinvent itself, they sound like a band doubling down on what they do best.

Before this album, The Sheepdogs had already built a strong reputation through years of touring and steady releases. They’ve shared stages with major rock acts and earned a loyal following thanks to their throwback sound that never feels forced. Keep Out of the Storm feels like a confident middle chapter, not a debut trying to prove something, and not a farewell statement. It’s the sound of experienced musicians who know exactly who they are.

In simple terms, Keep Out of the Storm is a solid, heartfelt rock-and-roll album. It’s about: Staying steady when life gets messy, Leaning on love and friendship, Playing music loud and proud and Not overthinking things. It doesn’t chase trends. It doesn’t try to be flashy. It just delivers strong songs, warm guitar tones, and a sense of optimism. For longtime fans, it feels like catching up with old friends. For new listeners, it’s an easy doorway into the world of The Sheepdogs. A band that still believes in big riffs, tight harmonies, and the power of a good song played well.
