“Shake Me, Break Me: The Musical Pulse of Lovesick”

The Happy Fits’ new album, Lovesick, came out on September 19, 2025. It’s their fourth full-length record, featuring 15 songs that run just under an hour. It was released through Diamond City and Many Hats Distribution and marks a big new chapter for the band. This album is especially important because it’s the first one since a major lineup change. Founding guitarist Ross Monteith left the band, and new members Raina Mullen (guitar/vocals) and Nico Rose (guitar/vocals) joined longtime members Calvin Langman (vocals/cello) and Luke Davis (drums). The group has called this release “the start of a brand-new band,” showing how much it means to them.

Musically, Lovesick was produced by Calvin Langman and Ayad Al Adhamy, with help from engineers Carl Bespolka, Chris Bittner, and others. Mixing was done by Danielle Warman and Jon Altschiller, while Craig Almquist handled mastering. The band said they poured their hearts into this record, wanting to make something that could “make you laugh and make you cry.” Along with the album, they launched new merch, vinyl editions, and a 2025 tour to promote it.

This album has 15 songs on it that include "Do You See Me?," "Everything You Do," "The Nerve," "Miss You," "I Still Think I love You," "Wild in Love," "Wrong About Me," and "I Remember." Critics and fans have responded very positively to Lovesick. Many are calling it the band’s most emotional and mature work yet. Reviews from Melodic Magazine and Campus Times praised the way the album balances fun, danceable songs with touching, heartfelt ones. They also complimented how well the new members’ voices fit into the mix, giving the group a richer sound.

Lovesick marks a new era for The Happy Fits. It shows they can grow and still keep their signature charm. The band has managed to keep their indie rock roots , catchy melodies, cello-driven hooks, and upbeat rhythms all while adding new layers of emotion and creativity. It’s both a continuation of what fans love and a bold step forward. Their ongoing 2025 tour is helping spread this new sound to wider audiences, and songs like “Everything You Do,” “Cruel Power,” and “Superior” are already becoming live favorites.

Critics and fans are loving how The Happy Fits manage to stay true to their quirky powered roots while growing into something deeper and more mature. Lovesick is perfect for anyone who’s ever felt the highs and lows of love, and wants to dance through the heartbreak. It’s the sound of a band reinventing itself and proving that sometimes being “lovesick” isn’t a bad thing at all.
