(New Single)
Written by: Ginny Gaines
Catfish and the Bottlemen, a rock band renowned for their exciting performances and catchy melodies, have once again delighted their audience with the release of their new single, “ASA”. This single was dropped on July 18, 2024, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album titled The Balcony that was released in 2014. "ASA" was originally on the B side of the single "Rango" that was released in 2013. Despite its initial release, the track remained relatively obscure, making its re-release a significant event for fans. The decision to include it in the anniversary reissue of The Balcony is a nod to the band’s early days and a treat for fans who have followed them from the beginning. The reissue of The Balcony is supposed to be released on September 16, 2024.
The production of “ASA” stays true to Catfish and the Bottlemen’s signature sound, characterized by driving guitar riffs, punchy drums, and McCann’s distinctive vocals. The track’s arrangement builds up from a mellow start to a themed chorus, showcasing the band’s ability to create emotional rock songs. The Balcony, Catfish and the Bottlemen’s debut album, was a commercial and critical success, propelling the band into the limelight. Tracks like “Kathleen,” “Cocoon,” and “Homesick” became favorites for many rock enthusiasts. The album’s 10th anniversary reissue not only celebrates this milestone but also offers fans a chance to revisit and rediscover the band’s early work. Included with this release will be additional rare songs and a limited addition 7" singles box set.
“ASA” is more than just a bonus track; it’s a testament to Catfish and the Bottlemen’s continuing appeal and their ability to connect with listeners on a deep emotional level. As the band celebrates a decade since their debut, “ASA” serves as a reminder of their roots and a promise of more great music to come. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to their sound, this track is a must-listen, capturing the essence of what makes Catfish and the Bottlemen a standout in the modern rock landscape.
