Ethanol Blend is a rising indie rock band from Adelaide, South Australia. What started as a solo project by frontman Jack Stokes, who goes by the nickname Slippery Sloth, eventually turned into a full band. He brought in his friends Dale Lasslett, Zack Dowd, and Alex McDonald to help bring his vision to life, and that’s how Ethanol Blend was born. At first, Jack was doing everything on his own—writing songs, recording them, and performing. He came up with the name “Ethanol Blend” because he thought it would be cool to wear petrol suits on stage. Originally, the name was a mouthful: “Slippery Sloth and the Ethanol Blend.” Eventually, they shortened it to just Ethanol Blend. Their first gig as a band was at a local event called Field Good Festival, and they haven’t looked back since.

Ethanol Blend’s music is a mix of indie rock with a punk edge. If you like bands like Radiohead or The Smiths, you’ll probably dig their sound. Their songs talk about real-life stuff—things like growing up, relationships, and trying to find your place in the world. They’re influenced by a bunch of different styles and musicians, and it shows. Their songs are both catchy and thoughtful, with a raw and honest vibe.

In June 2019, the band released their album titled The Blend, Pt.1. This album has 9 songs on it that include "Mind Blank," "Youth To Burn," "Purple Bike," "The Biggest Distraction," "Hanging in The Breeze," and "Tryin to Find Peace Ain't Easy." They released The Blend Pt.2 in November 2019. This album has 8 tracks on it that include "Thermal," "Underwater," "River," "Still Counting," "Tongue & Cheek," and "Penny." The albums helped Ethanol Blend build their fan base.

Ethanol Blend released their next album titled Anodised in 2022. This album has 9 songs on it that include "Chelby," "True Colours," "Beat Down on the Floor," "Trophy Shelf," "Into," and "Pistol." This album was well received by fans and critics alike. The band released their latest album titled Can't Help But wonder. This album has 10 tracks on it that include "Rabbit Hole," "Madison," "Memory Lane," "Carrington Blush," "Look Me In The Eyes," and "Hide Behind." Fans seem to really be excited about this album.

Besides making music, Jack Stokes helped start a local music label called Daybed Records. It’s a way to support indie artists like themselves, keep control over their own music, and build a creative community on Australia’s southern coast. Ethanol Blend is more than just a band—they’re a part of a growing scene of young, passionate musicians in Australia. They write honest music, work hard, and stay close to their roots. With two solid albums, energetic shows, and a clear sense of who they are, Ethanol Blend is definitely a group to watch.
