Boy Golden is the stage name of Canadian musician Liam Duncan, who’s been making a name for himself with music that mixes country, folk, bluegrass, and even a bit of psychedelic pop. His songs are thoughtful, sometimes funny, and often feel like a breath of fresh air, like sitting on a porch with a guitar and a lot on your mind. Liam Duncan is from Brandon, Manitoba, and he first got noticed as part of an indie rock band called The Middle Coast. After the band split up, he put out a solo album in 2019 called If I Don’t Feel Better. It was very emotional and personal, but a bit heavy for him—so he decided to change directions and create a new musical identity, Boy Golden.

As Boy Golden, Liam could explore a lighter, more relaxed vibe—music that still says something deep, but feels good to listen to. He started calling his creative world the Church of Better Daze—a fun, made-up place that’s all about finding peace, good times, and better days through music and art.

In 2021, he released his debut album titled Church of Better Daze. This album has 11 songs on it that include "KD and Lunch Meat," "Something To Work Towards," "I Wanna Know," "Any Way It Works," and "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died." This album set the tone for what he was all about, laid-back sounds, thoughtful lyrics, and a bit of a spiritual, dreamy vibe.

Boy Golden released a 6 track EP titled For Jimmy in 2023. Songs from this EP include "Mountain Road," "Whatever Got Lost," "Hard Headed," and "Out On The Weekend." This EP brought him a lot of praise. It even earned him a nomination for Contemporary Singer of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. In 2024, Boy Golden released his latest album titled For Eden. This album has 10 songs on it that include "Here To Stay," "Burn," "Boy," "The Way," "Never Have To Leave," and "Untitled." The songs are really personal and the whole album feels like a quiet retreat from the noise of the world.

Boy Golden has toured across North America, playing at festivals like North Country Fair and Dawson City Music Festival. He’s known for putting on great live shows, laid-back but full of heart. He’s also worked with other Canadian artists like The Bros. Landreth and helped produce music for other up-and-coming singers, like CJ Wiley. In 2025, For Eden was nominated for a Juno Award (Canada’s version of the Grammys) for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year. Before that, his EP For Jimmy actually won Contemporary Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

At the heart of Boy Golden’s music is this made-up idea of the Church of Better Daze, a kind of musical philosophy. It’s about being creative, slowing down, finding meaning, and just enjoying life when you can. His songs help people feel understood and remind them that it’s okay to chill out and take it all in.
